I am a PhotoJournalist dedicated to inspiring the next generation of Space Explorers by capturing rocket launches. I hope that the images and memories will encourage a deep interest, much as watching the early rocket launches on TV did for me decades ago.

Capturing Rocket Launch Memories

I'm known around NASA as RocketMan Robert. I'm a freelance photographer and media producer, and I have a home near Cape Canaveral on Florida's Space Coast. I'm an aerospace engineer by training, with studies in supersonic flight, rocket engine propulsion and turbomachinery (learn more About Me).

Depending on which pad a rocket is leaving from, I set up my cameras at different spots around Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Sometimes that means Titusville, sometimes Merritt Island or Cocoa Beach, and for special events the NASA press site.

Why do I do it? Decades ago I watched the early rocket launches on TV, and they made me curious about space. I'd like these pictures to do the same for someone else, especially the next generation of space explorers. So every print comes with a brief story of the mission: what the rocket was carrying, why it mattered, and what it was like to be there.

Depending on which launch pad is being used for a launch, I set up and view from various locations around the Kennedy Space Center and US Space Force. Every launch is different, even if it is the same rocket. And of course there are several different rockets being launched and from different companies.
